Diamond Materials is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our growing team. Diamond Materials is a leading heavy highway and site development contractor serving Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Since our founding in 1997, we have built a reputation for quality, integrity, and excellence in delivering complex infrastructure and site development projects.
Our work includes site development, underground utilities, asphalt paving, demolition, clearing and grubbing, milling, soil stabilization, marine services, on-site crushing and screening and so much more. The selected candidate will manage multiple heavy civil construction projects, including projects valued at $10M+, from contract award through final completion.
The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers and project teams to assist with a variety of project-related responsibilities, including submittals, requests for information, change orders, scheduling, material procurement, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, and project stakeholders to support project execution and respond to project needs.
- Assist in managing multiple heavy civil construction projects simultaneously.
- Help monitor project budgets, schedules, plans, and overall progress, and provide regular status updates to Project Managers and executive leadership.
- Support compliance with contract documents, specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
- Maintain a strong and uncompromising focus on jobsite safety.
- Track project costs against original estimates and approved budgets.
- Prepare, submit, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) in accordance with contract requirements.
- Prepare and submit project submittals in accordance with specifications and schedule requirements.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to support project needs and timelines.
- Maintain current construction drawings and communicate revisions to field personnel.
- Participate in weekly Project Management meetings and assist with project reporting.
- Coordinate with owners, developers, engineers, inspectors, municipalities, and utility companies.
- Assist in compiling and delivering all project closeout documentation in accordance with project specifications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects while supporting multiple managers.
- Strong decision-making ability and leadership potential.
- Advanced proficiency in:
- o Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- o Bluebeam Revu
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure while coordinating multiple project activities.
- Self-motivated, proactive professional with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of civil construction experience or related experience.
- Working knowledge of heavy civil construction practices.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of CPM scheduling.
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Project management and field coordination experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6.
